Mark Goble, MD
Dr. Mark Goble, M.B., B.S., F.R.C.S, is Chief Executive Officer and founder of Rhytec, Inc. He is also co-founder of Gyrus Group PLC, the company from which Rhytec emerged in 2004.
Dr. Goble graduated from Kings College Hospital Medical School in London with a degree in medicine. During his career in surgery he served as Senior Registrar in Urology at Bristol Royal Infirmary. He has extensive experience in clinical and laboratory research, as well as a proven record in bringing research in medical device technology to commercial fruition with companies such as Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.
In 1989, Dr. Goble co-founded Gyrus with his brother Colin Goble to develop radiofrequency, energy-based systems for application in advanced surgical practice. Gyrus is now a global operation employing more than 1200 people with a market capitalization of approximately $825 million. Gyrus is the world leader in tissue management using less traumatic techniques during advanced surgical treatment. Dr. Goble stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of Gyrus in October 2003 to focus on the strategic development of Rhytec.
Ken Grant is Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of Rhytec, Inc. He is a co-founder of the company and has extensive experience in bringing new medical procedures and technologies to market.
Before joining Rhytec, Mr. Grant spent five years as a consultant for Gyrus Medical, the company from which Rhytec emerged, assessing new business opportunities in the U.S. He was instrumental in carrying out market development activities for Rhytec including clinical trials and developing key physician relationships prior to incorporation.
As the principal of Grant Health Care Consulting, he has also provided hands-on marketing and business development services to a diverse group of early-stage ventures, Fortune 500 firms and multinational medical companies. Mr. Grant has also held marketing and sales management positions at Candela, Microsurge, and Johnson & Johnson. His involvement with Rhytec encompasses strategic and tactical planning, start-up management, continued market development, and the establishment of operations in Massachusetts.
Mr. Grant has a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College in NY.
Bill Kelley is Vice President of Sales of Rhytec, Inc. He has 29 years experience in the medical industry, the last 19 years in capital equipment specifically within the medical aesthetic industry. His responsibilities include the hiring, training, and management of a sales & distribution organization and clinical support department. His expertise lies in start up and development of sales organizations and new product introductions.
Mr. Kelley’s most recent positions include VP, International & Business Development at Laserscope; VP, Sales and Marketing with DentalView, and VP, Sales North & South America at Candela where during his 14 years he also had responsibility for sales, and worldwide service and clinical support.
Mr. Kelley has held various sales and sales management positions with United States Surgical Corporation, Shiley, Parke-Davis and New England Medical Devices where he was also an owner.
Mr. Kelley has a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Providence College.
Keith Penny is Director of Research & Development at Rhytec and is a co-founder of the company with extensive experience in research, design and development of products that combine many technological disciplines for a diverse range of applications.
Before joining Rhytec, Keith Penny was a project manager with Gyrus Medical where he participated in development of Plasma Skin Regeneration technology from its beginning in 1999, eventually becoming responsible for the project and is cited as inventor on various patents relating to Portrait® PSR3 and other electro-surgical applications.
Prior to joining Gyrus, Keith Penny worked in the field of specialized communications and countermeasures equipment for security related applications. During this time he also developed and presented associated training courses attended by both blue-chip company and government personnel from the UK and around the world.
He graduated from Imperial College, London, with a First Class Honors degree in Physics and later gained an MSc degree from University College, London.
Phil Andrews joined Rhytec as a co-founder in the role of Clinical Development Manager after moving from Gyrus Group. He is now in a newly created position of European Sales Manager where he is developing the sales and marketing efforts for Europe.
At Gyrus, Mr. Andrews’ roles included serving as Clinical Development Manager for Gyrus and Business Development Manager for Gyrus’ Gynecology and Urology products. He also served as project manager on the development of Gyrus’ Plasma Kinetic electrosurgical platform, with particular emphasis on its gynecological applications.
Prior to joining Gyrus, Mr. Andrews had a career in medical sales with Intavent Orthofix Ltd. He has also worked in the UK and the Middle East as a qualified OR technician, gaining a wealth of experience in all surgical specialties.
